Getting Started with LightSpeed

Welcome to LightSpeed

We’re excited to be working with you to create a tailored web solution for your business.

Every project is approached with a content-first process, collaborative design in Figma, and a clear staging-to-live workflow to ensure we deliver a high-performing, easy-to-manage site that meets your exact needs.

What We Need to Get Started

1. Content Collection

Before design work begins, we gather your real content so every design decision is based on authentic, final material — not placeholders.

How this works:

  • We set up a Google Drive project folder with sub-folders for text, images, branding, documents, and other assets.
  • Our AI-assisted content collection process tailors a checklist to your specific site architecture.
  • All files should be named using this format:
    [PageName]_[ShortDescription]_[Date/Version].ext
    Example: About_TeamBio_2025-02.docx

Why it matters:
Accurate, well-structured content speeds up design, prevents rework, and ensures a smooth, timely launch.

2. Brand Assets

  • Logo: Vector (PDF/EPS) or high-res PNG/JPG
  • Brand Guidelines: Colour codes, typography, imagery rules
  • Any existing design references (brochures, presentations, ads)

3. Access and Logins

  • Hosting and domain credentials
  • Existing WordPress admin credentials (if applicable)
  • Third-party service logins (forms, analytics, CRM)

If hosting with LightSpeed, we manage performance, backups, and security.
If hosted externally, a deployment surcharge applies, and LightSpeed accepts no responsibility for performance issues.

Our 2025 Web Design Workflow

Step 1 — Discovery

We start with a Discovery Workshop to define:

  • Business goals
  • Target audience
  • Site structure & feature list
  • SEO and marketing considerations

Step 2 — Figma Design System

  • We build a LightSpeed Figma Design System for your brand.
  • This includes colours, typography, spacing, components, and responsive settings.
  • Design tokens ensure consistency from Figma through to development.

Step 3 — Figma Prototype

  • We create an interactive click-through prototype in Figma using your real content.
  • You review the design as if browsing the actual site.
  • Feedback is provided directly in Figma.
  • Once approved, we move to development.

Step 4 — Staging Website Build

  • A functional site is developed in a secure staging environment.
  • All content, features, and styling from the prototype are implemented.
  • Plugins and integrations are configured for performance and security.

Step 5 — Staging Feedback & QA

  • You review the staging site in your browser.
  • Feedback is collected via BugHerd for easy, actionable change requests.
  • We make necessary revisions before launch.

Step 6 — Launch

  • We complete final SEO, performance, and accessibility checks.
  • The site is migrated from staging to live.
  • Google Analytics, Search Console, and any tracking codes are set up.
  • Post-launch QA ensures the live site is ready for visitors.

Step 7 — Post-Launch Support

  • Training Session (optional, billed separately): Learn how to update and manage your site.
  • Maintenance Plans: Keep your site secure, backed up, and running smoothly.
  • Performance Reviews: Optional ongoing UX, SEO, and speed audits.

Communication & Collaboration Tools

  • Google Drive — asset collection & structured file storage
  • Figma — design system, prototypes & feedback
  • BugHerd — visual staging feedback
  • Google Meet — workshops & milestone reviews
  • Email updates — every 1–2 weeks during active phases

Payments

  • 50% deposit to start
  • 50% balance on launch or 12 weeks after project start (whichever comes first)

Why This Workflow Works

  • Content-first: Prevents last-minute redesigns.
  • Design consistency: From Figma tokens to WordPress build.
  • Structured approvals: No stage starts until the previous is signed off.
  • Efficient feedback: Tools keep communication clear and changes actionable.
