2017 In Review

LightSpeed’s 2017 featured Ashley’s remote work travels, a major website redesign, joining elite design networks, and maintaining WooExpert status, culminating in a successful year.

The LightSpeed team enjoyed a relaxing afternoon on the slopes of Table Mountain, taking in the amazing view over the Atlantic Ocean, chilling in hammocks, and reflecting on what has been a very busy and challenging year at LightSpeed.
Here are a few photographs from our end of year get together.

In June this year Ashley traveled to Europe to attend WordCamp in Paris. He worked remotely for three months, travelling around Europe and in the United States, expanding LightSpeed’s already considerable reach. Working remotely is not a new concept, but an increasingly common option for employees. Here’s an interesting read about Ashley’s 2017 remote workspaces during his time abroad.
Prior to this the team went on a team retreat, where we spent three days strategising for the year ahead, and evaluating our performance up to that point. It was valuable time for our remote team to get to know each other a bit better, we blogged about the team retreat and the team’s experiences.

The redesign of LightSpeed’s website was a focal point of the year. It was built exclusively using our own software, which has been refined and improved throughout this process. It was a process that Ashley began last year whilst also travelling and working remotely.

As a result we have a suite of software and extensions of which we are incredibly proud, and that have been used to create some beautiful websites this year, with the focus primarily on the Tour Operator sector. You can see our best work showcased here:

LightSpeed joined two online networks of design and development professionals where businesses can offer their services in their relevant sector. LightSpeed was subjected to a stringent interview process before being approved. Please read our articles about joining Codeable and Fiverr.
LightSpeed continues to enjoy WooExpert status, and are still the only registered WooExperts in South Africa. Loving Woo and building WooCommerce stores is a passion at LightSpeed, we recently completed several exciting WooCommerce projects:
