Gutenberg is all the buzz in the WordPress world, and for good reason. The new block-based editor means no more messy HTML in your pages, or custom styling solutions.
Even beginner WordPress users have the ability to create stunning layouts, and change up the content styling using the new Gutenberg block editor.
LSX Meets Gutenberg
We had some insider info on the Gutenberg release. When the WordPress 5.0 update arrived, we had the LSX theme and all its extensions updated to flawlessly display those block-built pages.
While redeveloping the LSX theme, we noticed the Gutenberg blocks coming with the new WordPress update may not cover all of our users needs.
What if a user wanted to add a hero banner image, or a full width call-to-action to their page?
With this concept in mind, we put the build of the LSX Blocks plugin into motion.
Introducing LSX Blocks
The LSX Blocks plugin extends on the normal blocks you get when you update your WordPress website to the new Gutenberg block editor. We built it because we know you need more diversity on your webpages.
It’s a simple plugin. Once you’ve installed and activated it, you’ll have access to a ton of new blocks.
Take our Post Carousel Block for example, it lets you display your blog posts in a responsive slider carousel. Or the LSX Hero block, which allows you to create stunning full-width images with custom titles and buttons.
Why talk about it when you can check out the LSX update and all of our LSX block on the new LSX Demo site.
Showcasing LSX
Before you continue reading, follow this link, then head back to us.
Welcome to the new LSX demo website. We needed a place to showcase our updates for Gutenberg, and our new LSX Blocks plugin.
From the homepage alone, it may look like this demo site took us a good while to create.
Well that’s not the case. Not a single line of custom code went into this site. It runs purely on the power of:
- The new WordPress Gutenberg Update
- The LSX theme
- The LSX Blocks plugin
- Our revamped LSX extensions
Block Demos
Check out our prebuilt examples to see what you can do with the LSX blocks plugin. Each example breaks down a block and describes its features.
If a block allows for a number of different displays, we have provided an example of each.
Static Page Examples
We have used the core functionality that comes with LSX to build these static page examples. Each element is either a LSX Block or a core Gutenberg block – so no code!
Third Party Plugin Support
The LSX theme supports a number of popular third party plugins. We are particularly proud of our support of the The Events Calendar by Modern Tribe. This plugin is a fantastic tool for planning out and displaying events on your website.
Check out our demo list of events. This is what your event archive will look like out-the-box with the updated LSX theme.
It’s all free
Continuing with our pledge to keep software free, the LSX theme, all of its extensions and the new LSX Blocks plugin are free of charge.
So get to building your amazing website without the huge costs looming over your head!
